Inge Spider

Claire has a little house in our backyard. She loves it, and so do spiders. Every time Melanie takes her out, she dutifully cleans out the more obvious spiders, which are mostly daddy-longlegs.

In the past week or so Melanie decided to point out the various spiders to Claire and to name them. Claire repeats pretty much anything we say and did a great job of saying "daddy long leg spid er". She spent some time pointing out the various long legged spiders who share her house.

Sometime later that day, Melanie heard Claire talking in her house. She had made an impressive pattern-match connection. In her home were "Daddy spid er", "Mommy spid er", "Inge spid er", "Graham spid er". Lots of them.

I was reminded of this tonight when, during her bath, she pointed at something (a shadow?) and said "Inge Spider".
