Description:
The annual Lenexa BBQ Battle is the Kansas State Championship BBQ cookoff. Well worth the $1 admission on Saturday to pick up a fantastic BBQ lunch one nibble at a time. Friday night is a much bigger party, but I've found it is less enjoyable unless you are associated with group in the contest. And it is twice the price at $2! :)
For the best selection of competition food on Saturday, arrive at about 11:30am and wander around for the next hour or so. Contestants are preparing their submissions to be judged from noon and on. There is always more food prepared than will be judged, and the extra has a tendency to be given away. Lines form quickly around booths that are offering up the next bite of your lunch.
