This is an example of what can be done on a straight HTML web site using the RSS feeds from folkjam.org. The list below shows upcoming jam sessions in the greater Kansas City area and will always be current - I don't need to edit my site to keep the list up to date.
The data is from the folkjam.org feed http://www.folkjam.org/feed/jam/postcode/us/66215.
The display is built based on less than ten lines of JavaScript that I placed on this page. You can see the JavaScript here, as well as the tool that creates it.
