Many years ago when I was in college I spent a few hours porting a unix utility by John Hagerman that took in English text and spit out "Swedish Chef". I've been mildly entertained in the fact that it lived on via Usenet and that somebody took the time to write documentation for my port. I am proud to have apparently submitted one of the 'best ever' posts to alt.swedish.chef.bork.bork.bork according an archive for the group.

In cleaning out my collection of old computers and scrubbing hard drives this weekend I found the chef.exe binary and thought I'd post it. The source is long gone, this is the original 1992 compiled binary. To the best of my knowledge it is virus free.

If you got here through a search engine looking for the Swedish Chef converter please consider leaving me a comment. As I said, I'm entertained that chef.exe may be my lasting legacy second only to my child and your comments will only add to that. :)

I've attached both the straight chef.exe and the same binary in a zip file just in case your network does not allow downloads of executable files or you are on a 9600 baud dial-up connection and the smaller size will substantially speed up your download.
